For now I'll just put up the pictures; text will follow later when I am more in the mood for writing.

Grand Canyon This is a long telephoto shot showing the river winding its way down in the bottom of the canyon.

While I will do the whole text later, I do have to marvel at one thing, that is very very different from when I last visited the Canyon waaay back in 1958.
The Grand Canyon has obviously become a worldwide tourist attraction! I was agape at the amount of Japanese, German, French, and unknown other languages I heard spoken. It seemed unusual when I heard a passing party talk in English. The Japanese of course were overwhelmingly ovious, because they came as a huge busload rather than a few scattered cars, and they all talk like mad. Inscrutable Orientals they are not, except of course for me not understanding a word they were saying! But whatever they were saying, they said it with animation and at length.
I saw on the side of their bus that their next stop was Monument Valley. Doubtless there are going to be some very happy Navajo vendors when the busload arrives at the Navajo Market!! We were just as glad we travelled in the opposite direction, and had Monument Valley pretty much to ourselves.
